Day 2 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

02/25/2022

Doug: Today, I have to try to do some product photography, and help Becky with some things around the house. I have a headboard I am refinishing, and am about ready to start putting it together. As Becky and I do almost every Friday-Sunday morning, we chat in bed in the morning, our dog soaking up all the attention she can, often the cat, Bella joins us

Sergiy’s account of today and what he went through the night:

“Hello Doug.  Me and my family are ok.
The night was very difficult for all of us and almost without sleep.  At some point, I even decided that I was going crazy.  It hit the psyche so hard.  Everyone has an alarm suitcase and everyone is ready to run to the basement or bomb shelter at any moment (there are few of them, they are small and not always in good condition).”

Sergiy continues with “
“Civilians and soldiers are dying in our country.  Today, Russian occupiers hit an orphanage near Kiev with one of the Grad artillery mounts.  There were 50 children there and our Foreign Ministry qualified it as a terrorist attack.  So far there is no information about the victims and injured.”
Sergiy showed me a link to a Travel Blogger who speaks Russian, that is from the Ukraine. I will give a link but these words stick out in my mind: “We desperately need your help to show that Russian troops were deceived by Putin.
They were not even told that they were going to invade Ukraine. And they said that this is a continuation of the studies.”

This was a good reminder for me, not to place blame on Russian people, and hearing how many Russians have protested in Russia and ‘detained”, knowing that their protest can bring severe actions that can affect them for the rest of their life.

Nikita: I have not had much chance to talk a lot with Nikita, But he has joined up to help protect his city. These chilling words from his post will haunt me forever.
“But from this day I’m part of territorial defence.,  in a month maybe be I will be alive., or maybe no.
I don’t know”  I shared his post on my Facebook Page.
